Edited by: Garesh Hardlight on 08/11/2006 01:26:07 I didn't want to get involved in this thread to throw mud at my former corp. One which except for one issue, I was proud to be a part of.
I am now ANP, because I didn't like the way things panned out. However it should be noted by those such as Havras that almost all of us completely supported retreating from the war and the alliance. That part of the decision was never questioned.
Havras seems to think somehow that holding the back door while the big boys are playing elsewhere, and being dropped on the frontline of the biggest war, between the biggest alliance, and the alliance commonly acknowledged as being the most comprehensive fighting force in EVE are somehow the same thing.
Ermm, no.
Someone else dared to impune ANZA by listing killboard stats.
We burned through every battleship we brought with us. Most of us in the first weekend of the war. Then when we ran out we had to go elsewhere, off to omist, to buy high priced battleships, drag them back and throw them at BoB aswell.
Our markets where shut-down by order of High command so we had no means of resupply there, none of ASCN's supposedly mighty industrial base came good on any offers to sell us good priced ships.
We where a shattered corp, who joined ASCN because we couldn't catch our breath under LV taxes (nothing against LV), then thrown straight into a war.
I forget who cited our killboard stats. But almost every ANP member had less than 10 million isk in their wallets when we retreated to empire.
We might have given only 40 battleships, but *NO OTHER CORP IN ASCN* can say they gave 98% of everything they had. We where over a half of any frontline gang in Australian peak times, and usually no less than a quarter of any frontline gang in American peaktimes on the weekend. Yes we where in support ships for the couple of weeks before we pulled out, but just imagine what would be different if, instead of demanding a billion isk donation when we where least able to provide it, they gave us Battleships to fight in. (I'm not crying here, I didn't expect to be given battleships. But HC's desperate call was for more BS's and every single BS they would have given ANZA would have been one extra on the frontline.)
We dug in, we fought hard, we gave everything we had, and I can only imagine the pressure our directors where under when BoB captured our only two stations with corp offices isolating us from all our ships, all our modules (remember, empty markets).
If only we'd retreated differently I would be standing up tall and saying I'm *****ED* proud of being an ANZA.
So think for a moment, after you locked up an nbsi ANZA member and before you release your cruise missiles onto them. If you still have a Battleship, you havn't given nearly as much as that person probably has to the ASCN vs BOB war.
This rather extended monologue shouldn't be construed as a criticism of any party, I am really glad we had the chance to fight in that war, and ASCN is a great alliance with some great corps. It's just, we had nothing left to give. (which makes me kinda wonder where the bill to start SCA came from, you musta really price gouged those donated Ospreys )
